These are questions I came up with. Obviously, add or delete any and add the answers.
Q. How do I signup?
A. Contact the organization on the Interest Form or call.
Q. What is the registration period?
A. The registration period is from September 1 to August 31 annually.
Q. How much does it cost?
A. Team fees are $100/year which includes USA Hockey & NYS Amateur Hockey fees.
Q. Do I have to try-out?
A. There are no tryouts. All players attending practices will play in scrimmage games and tournaments.
Q. What criteria is there to be a player?
A. To play hockey for the Buffalo Sabres Thunder, a player should be comfortable skating in ice and be able to feel comfortable in the use of the protective hockey
equipment. Previous skating experience is recommended.
Q. What if I've never played hockey before, but are skaters?
A. The coaches will work with players who have skated before, but have not played hockey. Practices are setup to work on those skills that apply to be successful in
playing hockey.
Q. What equipment do I need?
A. The organization does have some equipment for use, but not all sizes. Some items are personal items which still need to be purchased by the player. Normal
protective equipment – shin guards, elbow pads, shoulder pads, helmet, gloves, and skates. Personal items – protective cup or protective shorts, neck guard,
hockey stick, and mouth guard.
Q. How are teams determined?
A. Players are evaluated based on hockey skills during practice. Players are assessed as either “A”, “B”, or “C” level players that would be a part of a specific level team.
Q. How often do you practice and where?
A. The organization presently practices one day per week at the North Buffalo Rink on Tacoma Avenue in Buffalo, NY. The time is from 9-10AM on Sunday mornings

A. Yes, practice is important part of playing hockey.
Q. What teams do we play?
A. The team scrimmages a number of local high school and travel teams for practice and game experience. We also play in special hockey tournaments with other
special hockey teams out of town and locally.
Q. When and where are games?
A. Local scrimmage games are scheduled as teams as they fit into our schedule. These are either at our home rink or other area rinks. Tournaments are held once a
month at locations such as Albany, Detroit, Rochester, Jamestown, and locally. National and International tournaments are also attended depending on their location.
Q. Is transportation provided?
A. Transportation is available through sharing rides with other families. If transportation is an issue for a player this should be discussed with the organization staff.
